EL DÍA DEL TANGO Sofia 2026
Sofia celebrates World Tango Day!
Every year on December 11, the world celebrates El Día del Tango — World Tango Day — honouring the birth of the legendary Carlos Gardel, the iconic voice of tango whose music continues to captivate generations around the globe.
In Sofia, this special tradition has been alive since 2004, bringing together tango lovers for a celebration of the music, dance and passion that make tango truly timeless. From concerts, exhibitions and dance workshops to film screenings and other special events, the festivities culminate in the highlight everyone looks forward to: the Gran Milonga — an extraordinary night of dancing, unforgettable music and shared emotion.
This year, get ready for something truly special!
We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding stars of the Argentine tango scene: the captivating and graceful Roxana Suárez and the dazzlingly elegant Dante Sánchez! The Passion, Elegance and Authentic Spirit of Argentine Tango
From the heart of Buenos Aires to tango stages around the world, Roxana Suárez and Dante Sánchez are artists who embody the magic of Argentine tango in its most authentic and captivating form. With their exceptional musicality, precision and natural elegance, they combine the richness of tradition with their own distinctive artistic style.
Having grown up surrounded by the milongas of Buenos Aires, Roxana Suárez brings the spirit of tango’s golden age to her dancing — an intimate and natural embrace, refined movements and a profound sensitivity to the music. Since beginning her professional career in 2007, she has established herself as an internationally acclaimed dancer and teacher, performing at prestigious festivals, stage productions and tango events across Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Dante Sánchez is the 2007 World Champion in Tango Salón and a respected dancer, teacher and mentor. Having started studying tango as a child, he has developed a style in which technical mastery, freedom of movement and subtle musical interpretation come together as one. His professional career includes stage performances, teaching and judging at prestigious tango championships.
Together, Roxana and Dante create a dance in which every gesture has meaning, every pause conveys emotion and every step tells a story. Their interpretation of Tango Salón places the connection between partners, the quality of the embrace and the dialogue with the music at its heart — those subtle nuances that transform tango from a sequence of movements into a truly moving experience.
Join us for an encounter with the art of Roxana Suárez and Dante Sánchez — an encounter with the authentic spirit of Buenos Aires, the beauty of tradition and that unique emotion that only tango can create.
